Derzeit finden im Horst-Dohm-Eisstadion in Berlin-Wilmersdorf die Finals der Europameisterschaft der Islandpferde auf Eis, IceHorse 2015, statt. Tausende Besucher haben sich bei strahlendem Sonnenschein und frühlingshaften Temperaturen weit über der 10°-Grenze in Berlin eingefunden, um dem Starterfeld von 120 Reiterinnen und Reitern die Daumen zu drücken.
Eine Eisbahn als Ovalbahn ist kein alltäglicher Schauplatz, um eine Meisterschaft auszutragen. Wenn dann die Bahn auch noch im Frühling den mit Stollen und Eisnägeln ausgestatteten Islandpferden den Untergrund für ihre Prüfungen liefert, dann scheint das wirklich ein Grund für die Berliner zu sein, der IceHorse einmal einen Besuch abzustatten. Nicht anders kann man sich die vollen Ränge in Berlin erklären. Allerdings wurden natürlich auch zahlreiche Neugierige dadurch angelockt, dass die Medien im Umland, aber auch deutschlandweit über IceHorse berichteten.
Für die Reiterinnen und Reiter ist es eine große Freude, dass so viele Zuschauer da sind. Denn, wie Beggi Eggertsson es einmal ausdrückte: „Der Beifall feuert auch uns Reiter und die Pferde an. Und diese Atmosphäre ist schon etwas ganz besonderes.“ Beggi führt derzeit auch den Fünfgang mit seinem Solòn an. Vielleicht kann er heute Abend dann auch den Titel des Europameisters mit nach Hause nehmen. Wir werden auf alle Fälle berichten…
